Farm bill dynamics the next time around
Buckle your seat belt when Congress begins its deliberation on the next Farm Bill. A significant effort will be made to save money and reduce the federal deficit, and budget balancers point to all of the “fat” in the USDA budget, which makes up one quarter of one percent of the federal budget. 75% of the USDA budget is dedicated to nutrition programs and those are off limits from budget cutting. So what is left to cut? Yep, you are right!
